How do I know you are a reputable kennel?
We take our responsibilities caring for your dog very seriously. Marlee Country Kennels has been established for over 15 years (formerly High Trees Boarding Kennels.) We are fully licensed and inspected annually by the City of Busselton. We are also full members of the Pet Industry Association of Australia (PIAA) and adhere to their strict Boarding Kennel and Cattery Standard and guidelines. In order to gain membership of the PIAA, we underwent rigorous inspection by an independent Veterinarian (Dr. Kristina Lightfoot - Heritage Vet Hospital, Busselton). We are also members of the local Busselton Chamber of Commerce.
What vaccinations does my dog need to have?
To ensure the safety of your dog and his friends in the kennels, all dogs need to be up-to-date with their vaccinations to C5 or C3 + Kennel Cough. We require evidence of this in the form of a Vaccination Certificate from your vet. These can be uploaded into our Booking Portal, emailed to us or shown to us at check-in. Doggos who have not been vaccinated or whose vaccinations have expired cannot be checked-in. If you’re unsure, discuss with your vet.
What should I bring?
We provide everything your dog needs for their stay. Raised trampoline beds, warm blankets, food, water, toys, leads, affection and exercise. We discourage bringing personal items as we can take no responsibility for loss or damage. If you do decide to bring your own items, please ensure they are clearly labelled with the dog’s name and not their favourites.
What do you feed the dogs?
We understand the importance of optimal nutrition for your dog and we also believe it is important to keep their routine as close to home as possible. We feed Eukanuba Premium Performance biscuits mixed with freshly cooked chicken mince and rice. We also have Eukanuba Sensitive Skin for those dogs suffering allergies. You’re welcome to bring your own food from home if you prefer that they eat their normal diet (freezer facilities are available for longer stays). This needs to be clearly portioned and marked for easy identification. We can feed once, twice or even three times a day if required. Please let us know at check-in or on your booking notes.
Where do they sleep?
All kennels have both an indoor and outdoor section with their comfy beds inside where they are always warm and dry. They sleep on trampoline beds with clean bedding which is washed and changed regularly.
Do they get exercised?
Dogs are exercised every day either on a long walk with one of our team or in the open free running areas with other similar sized, friendly dogs (weather conditions permitting). If your dog is not so friendly with others, they will still get exercised on their own or with their own pack members. Check out our facebook page
Do you mix Dogs together?
We only mix friendly dogs with other dogs of a similar size or temperament with your permission. During busy times, we may ask if your doggo will share a kennel with another dog but will only do so with your permission.
What happens if my dog gets sick or injured?
Our booking system requires that you provide us with contact details of your preferred Vet. If your dog incurs a minor injury, we will apply first aid, notify you or your emergency contact and seek your preferred course of action. If the injury or illness appears serious, we will administer first aid and then immediately attend your nominated local vet. If you are from out of town, we will use our on-call vet at Heritage Vet Hospital in Busselton. All vet expenses incurred as a result will be payable by you prior to check-out under our standard Boarding Terms & Conditions.
Do you take special requests?
We do try to accommodate all reasonable requests for your dog during their stay. Whether you’re leaving a pup, older or infirm dog, we will do our best to make their stay as comfortable and fun as possible. Diet, medication, exercise, rest, jackets, whatever your dog may require, leave it to us.
What if my Dog needs medication?
If your dog requires medication or supplements we can administer these as per your vet’s instructions. Please ensure you provide us with clear instructions and labelled medication and we will ensure these are met. Each dog receiving medication is written onto a specific medication board which is monitored several times daily and each dog is allocated its own dedicated medication tray to segregate medications (we can refrigerate if required).
Do you take young pups?
City of Busselton & PIAA licensing requires that we can only accept pups 4+ months of age at check-in.
Do you offer any discounts
We offer an extended stay discount of 10% for stays 14+ days and by quotation for stays of 30+ days.
Can you send me photos?
We endeavour to post photos of our guests playing on our Facebook page on most days, particularly those with us for longer stays so owners can see what their mates are getting up to on their holiday. Please understand it is impossible for us to photograph every dog, every day so we do not guarantee photos of your dog.
Can I visit my dog while on holiday?
Of course. Many of customers visiting the South West will leave their dogs with us to stay and come and collect them for day trips. Pick-up and drop-off is only possible during our normal opening hours.
Do you train dogs?
No. Whilst we are working with dogs every day and trained in the fundamentals of animal health and care, we are not accredited dog trainers and focus all of our energy on giving your dog the best possible care whilst with us. We can recommend professional, accredited dog trainers in the area if asked.
How can I book my dog in?
We use an online booking portal in which you can setup a profile for you and your dog and select the dates of their stay. Just follow the links from our Rates & Bookings Page. Of course, if it’s easier for you, feel free to send us an email at welovedogs@marleecountrykennels.com.au or by giving us a call on 08-9753 1351 (please leave a message if we do not answer as we are likely caring for the dogs).
